Space Quest 1: Roger Wilco in the Sarien Encounter is a remake of the original release of Space Quest: Chapter I - The Sarien Encounter. The new version has enhanced graphics (256 color VGA) and soundblaster support. It uses the SCI game engine (point-and-click interface, icons along the top) rather than the AGI engine (mixed point-and-click with text parser). Some of the puzzles have been slightly changed to accommodate the new interface and there is also possibility to skip the arcade part.

Poor Roger Wilco, while our ace-janitor was taking a nap in the utility closet the evil Sariens attacked the starship Arcada, murdered the rest of the crew and stole the Star Generator. This is a remake of Sierra's 1987 AGI release Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter. It is a humoristic adventure game. The new version has VGA graphics, soundblaster support and a point-and-click interface. Some of the puzzles have also been changed. Curiously, the VGA remake featured the taste and smell icons, which were rarely used during gameplay and were only featured in one Sierra game after Space Quest I, namely Space Quest IV, where they were as rarely used.
